When Dalip Singh Bhuria made his electoral debut, it was not an auspicious time for the Congress. It was 1977, and there was an anti-Congress wave in north India. In 1980, he won the seat for the Congress and has held it since. He joined the BJP recently and it remains to be seen if this Congress bastion will back the lotus instead of the hand.
