In the next election Lalit Maken was elected from here, who defeated Malhotra now of the BJP. In 1989 and 1991 Madanlal Khurana -- later Delhi chief minister -- has been elected from here, and in 1996 it was the turn of Sushma Swaraj, who defeated legal luminary and Congress candidate Kapil Sibal by 1,14,000 votes.
