Comedian Om Prakash dead

Hindi film comedian Om Prakash passed away in Bombay today, following a cardiac arrest.

The end came at 1330 hours at the Lilavati Hospital in northwest Bombay where he was admitted on February 19.

Om Prakash, 80, is survived by a daughter and a son-in-law. The funeral will take place tomorrow in Bombay.

He leaves behind an indelible mark on the silver screen with his variety of roles which had the audience in splits.

His style of delivering satirical dialogues was inimitable. He acted in more than 350 films in a career spanning four decades.

Om Prakash Bakshi was victim of Partition and came to Bombay from Lahore in 1947-48. His first film, Daasi, was released in 1950.

He is widely remembered for his roles as Sharmila Tagore's 'brother' in the memorable Chupke Chupke and Amitabh Bachchan's 'Daddu' in Namak Halal.
