Sonia for Congress PM, says Ghulam Nabi Azad

Azad said on Monday that Sonia Gandhi was the most suitable candidate for the
prime ministership in the event of the Congress forming a
government at the Centre.
Talking to newsmen in Bangalore, he said Sonia Gandhi's entry into
politics had galvanised the party which, he said, would form the
government at the Centre. She should be elected as leader of the
Congress Parliamentary Party as she had proved her mettle within
a month and had greater acceptability among the people throughout
the country.
However, he said it was only his personal opinion.
Attacking the Bharatiya Janata Party for its stand on
delicate issues such as Ayodhya, Article 370 of the Constitution
and a uniform civil code, he said the party was trying to fool the
people by making false promises. Even the BJP's allies like the
Samata Party, the AIADMK and the Akali Dal had opposed the BJP's
stand on these issues, he pointed out.
Ridiculing the BJP's promise of providing a stable government
at the Centre, he said the party's stand on these issues would only
disrupt communal harmony, which was the key factor for providing a
stable government.
