Pak should be declared a terrorist state: Joshi

India should launch a diplomatic initiative at the international level to get Pakistan declared a 'terrorist state' so that the United States stops economic aid to that country, Bharatiya Janata Party leader Murli Manohar Joshi said on Saturday.

Addressing the media before embarking on a two-day tour for electioneering in Bihar, Joshi said the United Front government had failed to take such an initiative even as Pakistan mounted its terrorist and disruptive activities in the Kashmir valley.

Pakistan's manoeuvres in the valley, he felt, were tantamount to cultural and ethnic aggression which had resulted in the killing of several Pandits and their forced migration for safety and security.

The former BJP president, however, hastened to add that steps to promote bilateral relations with neighbours should be taken on a regular basis, but acts of terrorism cannot be tolerated.
