Shiela Dikshit sworn in as Delhi chief minister
Shiela Dikshit was sworn in as chief minister of Delhi at a function in the capital today.
Lieutenant Governor Vijai Kapoor administered the oaths of office and secrecy to Dikshit.
Dikshit will be heading a seven-member Congress ministry. The other ministers sworn-in by the lieutenant governor are Mahender Singh Sathi, Dr A K Walia, Dr Narendra Nath, Professor Yoganand Shastri, Parvez Hashmi and Krishna Tirath.
Dikshit and other ministers took the oath in Hindi, except Professor Shastri who took it in Sanskrit and Hashmi in English.
Union Urban Affairs Minister Ram Jethmalani and outgoing Chief Minister Sushma Swaraj were among those who were present at the function.
