PMK reiterates unconditional support to Vajpayee
Pattali Makkal Katchi founder leader Dr S Ramadoss today said his party would extend unconditional support to the Bharatiya Janata Party-led coalition government at the Centre and asserted that there was no threat to its stability.
Addressing the media on his arrival in Madras after attending the coordination committee meeting of the BJP-led coalition at New Delhi yesterday, he said the opposition parties could not even move a no-confidence motion against the Vajpayee government.
He termed as "unwarranted", the demand by some opposition parties in Parliament for the resignation of the Vajpayee government following the BJP's defeat in the recent assembly elections in four northern states. No government at the Centre should resign, if the ruling party was defeated in assembly elections, he added.
He hoped that the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazagham would also support the Vajpayee government till it completed its full term. AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalitha's statement that her party would not cause a mid-term poll, was a case in point, he added.
