Al Umma head creates ruckus in TADA court

Judge Tamilvanan of the designated TADA court-II on Monday warned S A Basha, leader of the banned fundamentalist outfit Al Umma, not to create a ruckus in the court, and directed the police not to handcuff the accused while they were inside the court.

This followed a strong protest from Basha and other accused, who were present in the court in connection with the trial in the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh bomb blast case.

The judge said the accused should not indulge in shouting in the court, and should maintain court decorum.

The judge then posted further hearing in the case to May 18.

Basha and 13 others are facing trial in the case relating to the bomb blast at the RSS state headquarters in Madras in 1993, and is out on bail along with four others. He has also been arrested in connection with the recent serial bomb blasts in the state.

The CBI, which is probing the RSS bomb blast case, has moved the court, seeking cancellation of bail for the five accused, and orders on the petition are awaited.
