Jaya's letter on chargesheeted ministers yet to reach PM

Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee has not received a letter from All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazagham leader J Jayalalitha on her reported demand for dropping chargesheeted ministers.

The prime minister told the media after a defence investiture ceremony at the Rashtrapati Bhavan today that he was awaiting Jayalalitha's letter on her reported demand.

''I am awaiting a letter (from Jayalalitha) and I will not like to react on the basis of media reports,'' Vajpayee said when asked to spell out his stand on the AIADMK leader's demand.

Asked what decision had been taken about Union Communications Minister Buta Singh in the wake of the Supreme Court ruling in the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha MPs's bribery case yesterday, Vajpayee said the matter will be studied when the full judgment arrives.

Asked to comment on a flurry of statements between ministers belonging to different alliance partners, Vajpayee said, ''There is no problem'' ('Koi gadbad nahin hai').

The prime minister also refused to comment on reports that Home Minister L K Advani had expressed his displeasure over the manner in which Special Secretary (home) Ashok Kumar handled his mission to Madras to assess the growth of subversive forces in Tamil Nadu.

''This should be rightly asked of the home minister,'' Vajpayee said.
