Shabir fleeced Rs 500 million, claims aide

An associate of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front leader Shabir Shah has accused him of cheating and accumulating assets worth Rs 500 million.

This was claimed by Naeem Khan, an associate of Shabir Shah and chairman of a faction of the People's League. Khan, and other senior associates, made the charge at a magnificent bungalow in Srinagar owned by Shabir Shah. Khan also promised to bring out a white paper on the 'corrupt practices' of Shah.

Incidentally, on Monday, Shah had donated assets worth Rs 10 million to a trust that will work for the relief and rehabilitation of widows and orphans in the state.

One of Shah's bungalow in Srinagar has been forcefully occupied by Naeem Khan and his colleagues and turned into the headquarters of People's League.

Khan charged that Shah had used the money received by People's League to purchase property in the names of his relatives. "These assets belong to the Kashmiri freedom fighters," he said.

Khan said Shah's charitable trust was just a trick to salvage his reputation, and promised to expose him. "The money with him is 50 times more than what he has donated," he charged.
