Navleen Kumar murder
probe by CID: Thakre

The Maharashtra government has decided to hand over the probe into the murder of Navleen Kumar, a social activist from Nallasopara in Thane district, to the Crime Investigation Department.

This was announced in the legislative council by Minister of State for Home (rural) Manikrao Thakre on Tuesday.

Thakre was replying to a calling attention motion moved by Gangadhar Patne and Sharad Patil.

The opposition members charged the government of trying to shield the culprits and demanded the removal of Vasai deputy superintendent of police Vikram Gaikwad.

Thakre, while assuring an impartial probe, said that the guilty would not be spared.
