Afghan refugees who are veterans of earlier battles against the Taleban are preparing to leave their homes in Uzbekistan in an effort to link up with Northern Alliance forces and recapture Mazar-e Sharif and other northern towns.

Finding the source of the anthrax-contaminated letters delivered in
Washington, New York and Florida may be difficult, say experts, because
growing the bacterium is relatively easy and the microbe was commonly
studied in research labs before the 1990s.
