Sanjana's other life lingers onSanjana's other life lingers online

   Nidhi Taparia Rathi

The name is:
Sanjana

Claim to fame:
Model and actress. Debuted in Yash Raj films' Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai.

How often do you surf?
I don't surf very often, unless I need to check mail or browse for information. I like checking out brand sites like Guess, DKNY, Dolce and Gabbana, and perfume sites to find out about their latest products. But I don't surf very long, since it gives me a headache.

On a scale of one to ten, how would you rate yourself?
I'd rate myself at four. For me, the Net is not a way to pass my spare time, but an intelligent medium where I can find information easily and make intellectual conversation with my friends. I enjoy chatting with my folks and friends on MSN… But I'd never chat with strangers, except maybe for a fan chat based on my movies.

What do you use the Internet most for?
I enjoy using it for research, because I'm a biology student. I recently used it to finish a project on root science, along with a few reports.

What do you like and hate most about the Internet?
What I enjoy is the vast amount of information available and the ease at which I can access it. I hate the trouble of connecting online. I usually try and con my friends into hooking up for me so that I can surf easily.

Have you ever been ego surfing?
Yes, I've been ego surfing and it's fun to see my screensavers and pictures online. Luckily for me, very few people know that I used to model as Tulip Joshi. My screen name is Sanjana and so when they do search by this name they find only new pictures and interviews. In fact, I quite enjoy the two different identities online. It helps keep my two worlds different for me - I even reserve one email account for friends and another for those I interact with professionally in Bollywood.

Is there any Web-based gadget you would like to own?
I have a PC at home. So a laptop would help me surf when I'm on the sets. Most of my friends rave about their MP3 players, but I am not an MP3 fan. I believe in originality and I would rather buy a CD than actually download music illegally.

Have you ever bought or sold anything online?
I enjoy looking at brand Web sites but I would hate to buy stuff online and cheat myself from the pleasure of shopping. Though I enjoy surfing, I feel I cannot rely on the Internet.

Who would you like to chat with online?
I would rather chat with people face-to-face.
