December 23, 2020 12:54 IST

Hidden talents were discovered on the OTT platform.

From stars making a comeback to lesser known actresses getting a platform to prove themselves, this medium is probably the best that has ever happened to actors.

Joginder Tuteja picks his top 10 actresses on OTT.

Sushmita Sen, Aarya

What a terrific comeback!

The lady was grace personified and in Ram Madhvani's thriller, at the same time, demonstrating the kind of 'thehrav' she brings on.

Easily, one of the the best acts of 2020.

Shreya Dhanwanthary, Scam 1992

Shreya had a tailor-made role in Scam 1992 where hers was the most important character after Pratik Gandhi who played Harshad Mehta.

As journalist Sucheta Dalal, she brought in a lot of realism on screen.

Her talent was previously seen in The Family Man, and we hope to see her in the second season of that show as well.

Karisma Kapoor, Mentalhood

Karisma made a comeback in Mentalhood.

The light-hearted entertainer saw talented actresses (Tilotama Shome, Karisma, Shruti Sharma, Sandhya Mridul and Shilpa Shukla) play mums on screen, as they handled kids, husbands and many more challenges.

Lara Dutta, Hundred

Lara made a comeback in the Web series, Hundred.

As a no-nonsense cop with hints of grey, Lara shared a unique bond with her informer played by Rinku Rajguru of Sairat fame.

As the 'item girl' of the police force who is required to 'glam' up the cops's image, Lara was fun to watch.

Nidhi Singh, Abhay 2, Dark 7 White, Bahut Hua Samman

Nidhi has been a regular face in the digital space.

She played an able cop opposite Kunal Kemmu in Abhay 2 and followed it up with a comic act in the film, Bahut Hua Samman.

She is impressive in a short, but important role, in the crime thriller Dark 7 White as well.

Saiyami Kher, Special Ops, Breathe: Into The Shadows, Choked, Unpaused (Glitch)

Mirzya may have come and gone, but Saiyami saw a resurgence in her career, courtesy the digital space.

The young actress has seen in as many as four shows and that too in totally different characterisations -- from a counter-terrorism operative in Special Ops, a prostitute in Breathe: Into The Shadows, a housewife in Choked or a scientist in Unpaused.

Shweta Basu Prasad, Comedy Couple, Hostages 2, High

After making a comeback in 2019's The Tashkent Files, Shweta had three OTT releases this year.

She played a fun role in Comedy Couple as a stand-up comedian.

In Hostages 2, she played an investigative officer.

In High, she played a scientist who invented the 'mother of all drugs'.

Asha Negi, Abhay 2, Baarish, Ludo

A popular name on television, Asha Negi was prominent on the OTT medium this year.

As a journalist, who didn't mind bending a few rules, she made her presence felt in Abhay 2.

On the other hand, her romantic drama Baarish found some popularity too.

She also had a small part as Abhishek Bachchan's wife in Ludo.

Nithya Menen, Breathe: Into The Shadows

Last seen on the big screen in the big hit, Mission Mangal, Nithya played Abhishek Bachchan's wife in Breathe: Into the Shadows.

She gave him help and support as he committed various murders in order to get back their kidnapped daughter.

Rinku Rajguru, Hundred, Unpaused (Rat-a-Tat)

The Sairat star made her debut in Hindi with the Web series, Hundred.

As a vulnerable girl fighting death and in the process, deciding to love life to the fullest, she was quite interesting.

She also made for pleasant viewing in the Rat-a-Tat segment of the film, Unpaused, where she held her own against the powerful actress Lilette Dubey.
