Bollywood's unemployed stars

Last updated on: July 16, 2019 15:24 IST

Some of Bollywood's biggest stars, shockingly, don't have any work!

Of course, it is a decision they've taken, and we can only wait until they end their break and sign up a film.

Joginder Tuteja lists the stars who are yet to announce their next ventures.

Shah Rukh Khan
Last release: Zero

Shah Rukh declared he was not in a mood to pick up a film anytime soon.

He seems to have taken a sabbatical of sorts after his last film Zero bombed at the box office.

Shahid Kapoor
Last release: Kabir Singh

After Kabir Singh took on 'Blockbuster' status, Shahid is taking his time to sign his next film.

Even if he does sign a new film quickly, one cannot expect to see his next release before the Summer of 2020.

Now, that's a long wait for the star who has finally got his due in Bollywood.

Jacqueline Fernandez
Last release: Race 3

There was a time when Jacqueline was doing quite a lot of films, with at least one release a year.

But she hasn't signed any film after Race 3.

One wonders why she has slowed down as she knows just how to bring in the right dose of glamour that Bollywood mandates.

Meanwhile, she has joined the list of Bollywood stars to sign up for a streaming series with Mrs Serial Killer.

Sonam Kapoor
Last release: Ek Ladki Ko Dekha To Aisa Laga

Ek Ladki Ko Dekha To Aisa Laga delivered a strong message, but unfortunately, it did not earn enough.

Sonam will be seen next in The Zoya Factor, and she has not signed any new film.

It appears she wants to enjoy wedded life before getting back to the grind.

Priyanka Chopra
Last release: Jai Gangaajal

Priyanka's last Hindi film was Prakash Jha's Jai Gangaajal, back in 2016.

While saying no to Bharat looks like a good decision in hindsight, the actress will be seen next in The Sky Is Pink, opposite Farhan Akhtar.

But what next? One wonders what her career plans really are.

Abhishek Bachchan
Last release: Manmarziyaan

Abhishek took a break before stepping into Anurag Kashyap's world of romance in Manmarziyaan.

The film didn't do well theatrically, but it -- and the actor -- were appreciated.

He hasn't signed another film, but we will see him in the streaming project Breathe 2.

Anushka Sharma
Last release: Zero

2018 was quite busy for Anushka who was seen in Pari, Sanju, Sui Dhaaga: Made In India and Zero.

After that, it's been total silence from her.

Anupam Kher
Last release: One Day - Justice Delivered

There are certain character actors who are quite prolific on the big screen and Anupam is among them.

Recently, he starred in the film nobody saw, One Day: Justice Delivered.

But the veteran of 500 plus films hasn't signed anything new in Bollywood. Instead, he's headed for New York to shoot the second season of New Amsterdam.

Imran Khan
Last release: Katti Batti

Just one good film and he could well be back in the reckoning.

It's been ages since Imran was last seen on the big screen -- his last release Katti Batti was in 2015 -- but one cannot deny that he's got plenty of talent.

The actor has been busy directing a short film, but we'd like to see him in front of the camera!
