When Ash, Kareena, Lara Hammed To The Hilt

It's not just actors who go overboard when it comes to acting.

Bollywood actresses are known to have committed this sin too.

Here's looking at some of our top actresses and their most over-the-top performances.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in Dhoom 2

Ash isn't exactly known for playing it subtle. But in Dhoom 2 the decibel levels were kicked up several knotches.

In con woman Sunehri, it seemed as if Ash had found her perfect alter-ego. The voice, mannersim, her accent everything was just way too over the top.

As Sunehri would say, "Like... really annoying."

Kareena Kapoor in Main Prem Ki Deewani Hun

Kareena Kapoor and Hrithik Roshan in Main Prem Ki Deewani Hun

Right before this Sooraj Barjatya film came out, Kareena Kapoor had said in an interview that her director had really brought out the actress in her.

How we wish he really had!

To say that Kareena overdid everything would be a serious understatement. When her charcater Sanjana is separated from her lover, instead of portraying a lover's anguish, her pained expression makes her look like she's being choked.

A bit much, don't you think?

Lara Dutta in Housefull

Sajid Khan's films aren't exactly the finest specimens of Bollywood films.

But watching Lara Dutta play a caricature of a pretty blonde in Housefull was exasperating. While the film insults the intelligence of a moviegoer, Lara's character was an insult to the actress herself.

Kajol in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham

Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham

Kajol's character in Karan Johar's magnum opus lived in Karol Bagh and hence, the makers decided, she had to be loud.

Kajol's Anjali is a romantic and recites shayri but when she talks, it's an assualt on our eardrums.

Priyanka Chopra in Anjaana Anjaani

Priyanka Chopra was just too over-the-top in her role as a suicidal San Francisco girl Kiara.

The heart-borken girl decides to commit suicide when she realises that her boyfriend is cheating on her. Her droll Indian-girl-bred-in-a-foreign-country act can be a little too much to take.

Kangna Ranaut in Fashion

Kangna Ranaut in Fashion

She's played the troubled diva far too many times for us to tell two performances apart.

But her turn as a cocaine-snorting troubled supermodel in Fashion got a little out of hand, we think.

Her atrocious accent didn't help matters either.

Rani Mukerji in Saawariya

Rani Mukerji in Saawariya

The cheeky prostitute in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Saawariya makes a great show of being an optimistic woman even though life has treated her rather harshly.

Rani Mukerji speaks broen English and fawns all over Ranbir Kapoor. But the good-at-heart protitute vibe is inexplicably missing.

Priety Zinta in Chori Chori Chupke Chupke

Preity Zinta tries to replicate Julia Roberts' sexy and super confident Vivian -- the much-loved prostitute from Pretty Woman.

But she doesn't have the spunk to pull it off. Her Madhu is a bumbling simpleton at best.

Ameesha Patel in Aap Mujhe Achche Lagne Lage

There were many things wrong with Ameesha Patel in Aap Mujhe Achche Lagne Lage. Hrithik Roshan and Ameesha Patel's second film together after the blockbuster Kaho Na... Pyar Hai.

Apart from the outdated premise and treatment of the subject weren't bad enough, Ameesha Patel's acting chops are put under the scanner too.

When tragedy strikes, her charcater is reduced to a panic-stricken damsel in distress who's suffered an asthmatic attack.

Genelia D'Souza in Masti

That Genelia struggles while talking in Hindi is no secret.

But her shrill control freak character in Masti was just too much to handle. Not just for her hen-pecked husband but for the audience too.
