As we celebrate Mother's Day, we take a look back and celebrate the filmi moms.

Vidya Balan
Vidya Balan played mom to a way older Amitabh Bachchan in Paa. And she did quite a brilliant job, as the loving, strong yet heartbroken mom to a child, diagonised with a rare disease.
Kajol
Adapted from Stepmom, Kajol played a cancer-stricken mom to three kids, Aanchal Munjal, Nominath Ginsburg and Diya Sonecha.
Even in her losing battle with death, Kajol manages to remain cheerful and happy. Quite heart-wrenching, really.
Madhuri Dixit
Madhuri Dixit played a gorgeous mom in her comeback film, Aaja Nachle, and danced into our hearts with her performance.
We've seen her play mom in the past as well, in 1992's Sangeet.
Sridevi
A mother, who feels she isn't respected by her family thanks to her poor English-speaking skills, she overcomes her shortcomings in quite the dramatic way.
Sridevi's mom here is quite the opposite of her character in Judaai -- her last film before retirement -- where she played a greedy mother, who 'sells' her husband.
Ratna Pathak Shah
Ratna Pathak Shah played a cool mom to Imran Khan in Jaane Tu...Ya Jaane Na, with some great comic timing.
It was different from her snooty, socialite mother to Imran again, in Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu.

Smita Jaykar
Smita Jaykar has played various shades of mom in the movies -- from Ranbir's fun-loving mother in Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahaani to Shah Rukh Khan's arrogant mother in Devdas.
Hema Malini
Jaya Bachchan
All of Bollywood actors simply Jaya Bachchan and many list her as their favourite onscreen mom.
She has played mother to Shah Rukh Khan quite a few times in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gaam and Kal Ho Naa Ho, as well as to Karisma Kapoor and Hrithik Roshan in Fiza.
But her best mother performance has to be the one in Hazaar Chaurasi Ki Maa, as she plays mom to a dead Naxalite son.

Aruna Irani played an evil mother to Anil Kapoor in Beta, and a loving mother to Govinda in Raja Babu.
And then, there were similar roles in Khatta Meetha, Suhaag, Haqeeqat and Jaan.

Raakhee has played mother to many actors in the movies but she's best remembered for her role in Karan Arjun, where she waits endlessly for her sons (Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan).
