Vidya Balan, who served on the Cannes Film Festival jury panel along side the likes of Nicole Kidman, Ang Lee and Steven Spielberg, took desi dressing on an international platform to a mythical level.

Dressed and styled by popular Indian designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee -- who's known for his elaborate ethnic wear with regal elements like high necklines, intricate embroidery and voluminous silhouettes -- for the entire course of the fest, Vidya had quite a few hits and misses on the red carpet.

The actress arrived for the Bombay Talkies screening in a look that received a lot of positive feedback.

The sari paired with a potli purse, big earrings and a soft bun was one of her better looks.

When she first arrived at the Martinez hotel for the festival, Vidya looked striking in her red, gold and black lehenga which she paired with jhumkas and a tiny bindi.

The look, however, lost its sheen after repeated sightings in the course of the festival.

The opening ceremony of the festival saw Vidya in yet another Indian look that screamed for attention.

While the lehenga itself was pretty, the effort put into styling was a bit much.

In what can be best described as ideal dressing for a royal matriarch holding her annual press conference, Vidya turned up for a jury photocall in this highly strung and monotonous look.
