Vote: Hottest magazine covers of 2009

Being a cover girl can be tedious, especially when you need to look 'exclusive' every time. Every month a Bollywood beauty dolls up in her most striking avatar, experimenting and reinventing her clothes, hair, make-up and accessories to sparkle a glossy. (With some help from Photoshop, perhaps? Wink, wink)

With a splurge of international fashion journals hitting Indian shores along with local gossip magazines to contend, the competition for hot-selling covers has only one up.

We take a look at some of the hottest magazine covers of 2009. Click through the slide show, and vote for your favourite at the end.

Deepika Padukone, Harper's Bazaar

The Love Aaj Kal girl's slender frame and chiseled features makes her any camera's delight. No wonder she's the recurring choice of so many fashion editors. Take a look at this sizzling cover, know what we mean?

Bipasha Basu, Maxim

If looking hot is a hobby; Bipasha Basu is its prime endorser. While we are yet to recover from her last year's tempting cover girl act, the Bengali bombshell turns on the heat in this seductive bit of lingerie. Life support, pronto!

Imran Khan and Sonam Kapoor, Filmfare

Individually, they have tremendous presence. And together, they are sheer magic.

So it's only natural to expect a memorable cover when a boyish Imran Khan and ethereal Sonam Kapoor fire up the pages of a magazine with their fantastic chemistry.

Ironically, the duo star in Karan Johar's upcoming rom-com, I Hate Love Stories.

Kareena Kapoor, Hi Blitz

2009 saw the radiant Kapoor gracing the maximum number of covers.

While most of them exploited her glam goddess profile, this one portrays her queenly, soft-hued splendour with ravishing results.

As an aside, wouldn't it be great to see Bebo in a period costume drama?

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Verve

Red is a tricky shade. Not everyone can pull it off with lan. Ash, however, is not 'everyone.'

The luminous 36-year-old with an impressive line-up of releases like Raavan, Endhiran, Action Replay and Guzaarish in the coming year appears indisputably luscious in this cherry-red Shahab Durazi gown.

Katrina Kaif, Vogue

Still hung up on Katrina Kaif's cute-as-a-button Jenny in Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani? Well, you'll find nothing of that sort here.

The gorgeous Cancerian rocks this bling-y Chanel number with her understated oomph and glamour-laden poise.

Vidya Balan, Marie Claire

She's been spotted in a whole lot of Sabyasachi Mukherjee lately. Incidentally, he's also designed Vidya Balan's wardrobe in R Balki's Paa. We are certainly not complaining.

To Vidya's credit, her classic, close-up happy disposition makes her quite a muse, don't you think?

Lara Dutta, Elle

There's definitely a lot more to Lara Dutta than a shapely swimsuit body.

Catch her stand tall and proud, like a new-age princess, on the cover of Elle. Clearly, there's nothing blue about this one.

Kangna Ranaut, Grazia

Isn't this Dolce & Gabbana outfit a modified version of what we just witnessed on Lara?

Indeed. Trust Kangna Ranaut, however, to make us overlook this detail with her fiercely fashionable and vintage diva presence.

Genelia D'Souza, FHM

Genelia leaves her frothy, tomboyish Aditi days behind to slip into a slinky, cowl-necked LBD and flaunt her brand new sexy skin.

Not bad for a rookie seductress. Not bad at all.
