Rani Mukerji in Aiyyaa

She is one of the best female actors Bollywood has but unfortunately, has chosen a couple of really bad films in her career.

Even her spirited performance cannot save some of these films, like her latest release Aiyyaa.

We take a look at Rani's 10 worst films in her career.

Aiyyaa

The promos looked refreshing and a lot of Rani's fans were counting on Aiyyaa. But the excitement got over right after the first few shows.

The film received a bleak response from the critics as well as the audience and was a poor performer at the box office.

Critics called the film 'loud' and 'over the top'. Did Rani see the script beyond her role? It's something only she can answer.

In this film directed by Sachin Kundalkar, Rani plays the role of a woman, who sees her life as a masala movie, and goes on a hunt for her dream man.

The film was supposed to tap India's favourite passion, cricket, but it went unnoticed.

Not many fans liked seeing Rani as Veera Kaur, a Punjabi girl who enters the men's cricket team to play in the Cricket World Cup. It is loosely inspired from the 2006 Hollywood film She's The Man.

Dil Bole Hadippa, produced by Yash Raj Films and directed by Anurag Singh, fell flat soon after its release.

Rani Mukerji in Saawariya

Saawariya will go down in history as one of Bollywood's worst debacles.

Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Saawariya was going to be a big launch for Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor. The fate of the film was decided by the audience on the first day itself, thanks to negative reactions and reviews.

The cast, including Rani, got a very raw deal. In fact, it was surprising that the actress signed up to act in this, in a small and forgettable role.

Directed by Pradeep Sarkar, LCMD is one of Rani's worst films in her acting career.

The storyline in which a woman sacrifices her own happiness and reputation to financially support her family by working as a sex worker was something that didn't have any takers.

Rani acted in it alongside Abhishek Bachchan and Konkona Sen Sharma.

Yash Raj films and director Siddharth Anand got together once again after Salam Namaste to make Ta Ra Rum Pum.

The lead pair -- that had worked so well in Hum Tum, Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukerji, -- was also roped in for this film even they could not salvage the fate of the movie.

Long before he made The Dirty Picture, director Milan Luthria made Chori Chori starring Rani along with Ajay Devgn and Sonali Bendre.

The plot of this comedy was similar to the Hollywood movie HouseSitter.

After much delay, this film finally released in 2003 and looked very outdated.

Chalo Ishq Ladaaye (2002)

Rani Mukerji in Chalo Ishq Ladaaye

The tacky posters of this Rani Mukerji starrer sent out a negative buzz.

She chose to act opposite Govinda, who clearly didn't have any market in 2002.

Rani played a popular but lonely actress who lives an isolated private life even though she is always surrounded by fans in her public life.

Though Govinda is known to have one of the best comic timings in the industry, here he is way over the top.

Pyaar Diwana Hota Hai (2002)

Govinda and Rani Mukerji in Pyaar Diwana Hota Hai

Once again not many Rani Mujherji fans will recall this film. Directed by Govinda's brother Kirti Kumar, this completely outdated film is remake of the Tamil movie Sollamale. It sank without a trace.

In this film, the lead actor Govinda leaves his village and goes to the big city. He is naive, easily influenced and illiterate. His attempts to influence girls are mocked but soon he befriends an NRI called Payal Khurana, played by a terribly miscast Rani Mukerji.

Bobby Deol and Rani Mukerji in Bichhoo

When Rani Mukherji and Bobby Deol starrer Bichchoo released in 2000, critics called it the worst film of the year.

This suspense film is directed by Guddu Dhanoa and is heavily inspired by the Luc Besson 1994 film Leon. Bichhoo did well in north India but Rani's fans were clearly disappointed with this one.
