One of the most successful young Tamil actors, Karthi is the son of yesteryear actor Sivakumar and brother of Tamil superstar Suriya.

Coming from a very traditional family, it came as a shock to many in Tamil Nadu when Suriya chose to marry his co-star, Jyothika.

Unlike his brother, Karthi opted for an arranged marriage. The girl Ranjini was chosen by his parents.

The marriage was solemnised as per Hindu rites in Coimbatore, early Saturday morning.

Karthi had organised a feast for more than 4,000 of his fans in Coimbatore.

Both Karthi and Ranjini were in a jovial mood throughout the ceremony.

Karthi, a very media friendly actor, had met his media friends a couple of days before his wedding and said that he wanted to introduce Ranjini but she was too scared to meet the press.

The wedding was attended by the family and a few close friends from the industry like Bala, Prabhu, Radhika, Bhagyaraj, etc.

Karthi's father has planned a grand reception in Chennai for the friends in the industry on July 7.
