What's keeping Dhanush busy after Raanjhanaa

After impressing the audiences all over India with a spectacular performance in Raanjhanaa, Dhanush's next release is going to be Bharat Bala's Mariyaan which again has music by A R Rahman.

Mariyaan was shot in the African desert and coastal Tamil Nadu quite some time back and will release next week.

The film that the actor is currently working on is A Sargunam's Naiyaandi.

A Sargunam has directed only two films so far: Kalavaani and Vaagai Sooda Vaa. But this young director’s work is eagerly awaited. Kalavaani, a romantic comedy,was an unexpected hit. Vaagai Sooda Vaa, a simple love story set in a small town, won the National Award for best Tamil feature film last year

In Naiyaandi, Sargunam is in strong territory; the film is said to be a romantic comedy. The romance is said to be between a young man who sells brass items and a dental student. When the young man is played by Dhanush, the excitement in the trade is understandable.

Nazriya Naznim, a child artist turned heroine from Kerala is popular in both Kerala and Tamil Nadu after her bilingual Neram hit the jackpot. The shooting of the film had to be postponed in March as she was busy with her 12th standard exams.

Incidentally, Naiyaandi has three National Award winners working in it -- Sargunam,  Dhanush and Saranya Ponvannan, who won the National Award for best actress in 2011
