A scene from Manasaare

The year belonged to Kannada actress Aindrita because all her films did reasonably well at the box office.

Radhika Pandit was not so lucky but still she managed to make a big impact with her performances. The beautiful Raagini was lucky with her first film and she charmed fans with her glamorous looks.

But the year did not go as well for Pooja Gandhi and Ramya, the latter making news for all the wrong reasons.

We look at the Kannada actresses who impressed us this year.

Aindrita Ray
Films: JungleeManasaare and Vaayuputhra

Aindrita had two huge hits in Junglee and Manasaare and a semi hit in Vaayuputhra. With each film, she seems to be growing into a mature actress, her glamorous image intact.

Though she was brilliant in Yogaraj Bhat's Manasaare, she was not allowed to dub in her own voice. The actress has now promised to do her dubbing in all her future films from now on.

Malayali actress Parvathy Menon had become the toast of Kannada cinema with her brilliant performance in Prakash's Milana.

Parvathy scored again in Vijayalakshmi Singh's Male Irali Manju Barali. She seems to possess a deep understanding of the characters she portrays, which was evident in Male Irali. Her body language and dialogue delivery really stood out.

Radhika Pandit is one of the most captivating faces of the Kannada film industry today.

She proved her acting talent by bagging awards for her work in her debut film, Moggina Manasu

She had two 2009 releases -- Olave Jeevana Lekkachara and Love Guru -- and she performed brilliantly in both. She showed off her bubbly charm in Love Guru while the last few sequences of Olave Jeevana Lekkachara proved that she was an actress of calibre.

Incidentally, Raagini was introduced earlier in a film called Holi.

The actress showed a lot of energy in the song and dance sequence of Veera Madakari. She has now signed two more films, and has bright prospects in the industry.

Yagna Shetty

Films:  Eddelu Manjunatha and Love Guru

Yagna Shetty made her debut in the Kannada film industry in a nondescript film and was never considered star material until her two releases, Eddelu Manjunatha and Love Guru. The films were something to cheer about for the young actress.

Yagna was very good in Eddelu Manjunatha, which showed her as a suffering wife of a drunk husband. Her role did not have any glamour, and she was especially good in the film's climax.

She also proved her talent in an effective role in Love Guru, where she played a software professional.
