Six Malayalam films gear up for release

Six new Malayalam releases will hit the screens on April 26: Shalini Usha Nair's Akam, Rajasenan's 72 Model, Sajan's Progress Report, K B Venu's August Club, A G Sukumaran's Ente Puthiya Number and Harilal Gandhi's Shwasam..

Here is a closer look at three of them.

Akam

Director: Shalini Usha Nair

Cast: Fahadh Faasil, Anumol

Based on well known writer Malayattoor Ramakrishnan's Yakshi, Shalini Usha Nair's Akam has already received good reviews at a few film festivals. Fahadh had acted in this film much before he became a great success.

It's a psychological thriller, in which Fahadh plays an architect named Sreenivas and Anumol plays his wife, Ragini.

The film's camerawork is handled by Christopher John Smith and music by Deepak Raghu and Murari Vasudevan.

72 Model

Director: Rajasenan

Cast: Govind Padmasoorya, Sreejith Vijay

Director Rajasenan has delivered some big hits but has been going through a lean phase of late.

His latest film, 72 Model, has a group of young actors in the lead such as Sreejith Vijay, Govind Padmasoorya, Soniya and Nazreen.

The cinematographer is K P Nambiathiri and the music director is M Jayachandran.


August Club

Director: K B Venu

Cast: Rima Kallingal, Murali Gopi

The film, directed by K B Venu, was earlier titled Venalinte Kalaneekkangal and has been scripted by legendary writer-director P Padmarajan's son Ananthapadmanabhan.

Rima Kallingal plays the lead in this film, which is said to be centred round the life of a woman. Murali Gopi plays the male lead.
