Mohanlal plays a character named Alexander Varma in director Murali Nagavalli's forthcoming Malayalam release, Alexander the Great.

The film is being produced by VBK Menon under the Anugraha Cine Arts banner. Nagavalli has earlier directed Wanted, which featured Mohanlal in a guest role.

Alexander the Great, which was shot extensively in Dubai and Mumbai, took some time in its making. But now it's here: Mohanlal's Vishu release for the new year!

The Mumbai-based Alexander Varma is smart and witty -- a real genius.

Now a wealthy Dubai-based business group, Varma Corporation, is trying to bring the hero to the Gulf metropolis. After the death of Varma Corporation's owner, Prathapavarma, many people are vying to take control of the group's business interests. But as it turns out, only one man is slated to be owner of the empire -- Alexander Varma!

His surprise entry comes as a surprise to all involved in the feud.

Jagadeesh plays a character who calls himself SRK or Shah Rukh Khan, as the short form of his name Sri Rama Krishnan matches the superstar's!

Hindi actress Meenakshi Dixit plays the film's heroine. Bala, Siddique, Sai Kumar and Sudha Chandran are also included in the cast.

The film has been scripted by C Balachandran, a former journalist, while D Kannan is the cinematographer. Gireesh Puthanchery's lines have been composed by M G Sreekumar.
