Tamil star Vijay shoots in Kerala

Tamil superstar Vijay is shooting at Varikkassery Mana in Ottappalam, Kerala for his film Kaavalan which is being directed by Siddique. The film is a remake of the director's Malayalam film Bodyguard which starred Dileep and Nayantara. Asin returns as Vijay's heroine after Pokkiri.

Varikkassery Mana, which is regarded by the Malayalam industry as a lucky location, has got a face lift to suit the mood of the film. "It feels really nice to be shooting here as this place gives me added energy," says Vijay.

The hero is getting a rousing welcome from his fans in Kerala, who don't mind waiting for hours to catch a glimpse of their favourite star. "I am thrilled by the response from the fans in Kerala," smiles the hero.

Anjali in Malayalam

Anjali who became a sensation with the Tamil hit Angaditheru is making her Malayalam debut opposite Jayasurya in director Leo Thaddeus' Payyans. The shooting of the film is currently underway in Kochi.

Anjali shot into fame with the Tamil film Katrathu Thamizh.

She plays a Seema, sound engineer at a radio station in Payyans. Jayasurya plays Josy, an aimless guy. Seema plays an important part in bringing some discipline into his life. Yesteryear heroine Rohini plays Josy's mother in the film.

Leo Thaddeus has earlier directed Pachamarathanalil with Sreenivasan and Padmapriya in the lead.

Remember the yesteryear hit August 1?

The film is directed by Siby Malayil which is believed to be inspired from the film The Day of the Jackal.

Mammootty played Perumal, a police officer in the film who saves the chief minister's life from an assassin. Late Sukumaran (Indrajith and Prithviraj's father) played the chief minister while Captain Raju did the role of the killer.

Now, director Shaji Kailas has started shooting its sequel, titled August 15, at Thiruvananthapuram.

Written by S N Swami, the script focuses on Perumal played by Mammootty.
