Srinagara Kitty, who has seen success with Sanju Weds Geetha and Hudugaru, has been roped in for yet another ambitious project. He will be starring in the remake of Puttana Kanagal's Shuba Mangala. The film that released in 1975 had Arthi, Srinath, Ambareesh and Shivaram in pivotal roles and was based on writer Vani's novel of the same name.

The remake is being directed by Srinivas Raju. While the essence of the story is to remain the same, the script has been modified to suit present day tastes.

The film will go on the floors in September and a major portion of the shoot will take place in London.  Currently Kitty is busy with the shooting of Ko Ko. He has also replaced Diganth in the Sadhu Khokila-directed Anarkali.

There's good news for fans of director Guruprasad who had to be satisfied with his guest appearances in films the whole of last year and this year. His third film, Director's Special, is expected to go on the floors next month.

The film will stress on family values. While the lead pair is yet to be finalised, Guruprasad is said to have signed up popular comedian Rangayana Raghu for a major role. It will be the first time that the two will be working together. Guru's films, which are generally high on humour, will get an added boost.

Tabla Nani, a regular in Guru's films, is also part of the cast, but there are likely to be new faces in the lead roles. Komal was slated to play the hero, but he backed out reportedly because the film is a dig at the film industry.

Neethu, who was appreciated for her performance in the just released Yograj But! is acting in the Konkani film Ujwadu (Light). Konkani is the leading lady's mother tongue so she was more than thrilled to accept the offer.

Theatre person Kasargod Chinna directs. The film is to give some insight into the life and culture of the Goud Saraswath Brahmin community and traces the journey of the characters from darkness to light.

Award winning writer Gopalkrishna Pai has contributed to the story and screenplay.

Shivadwaj is the hero. Umashree is part of the cast. The film was shot mostly in Karkala.
