Sharwanand's film career is progressing well. Several of his films have been critically acclaimed and the last one, his Tamil debut film, Engeyyum Eppodhum, was a huge hit.

His ouvre includes films such as Vennela, Gamyam, Prasthanam, Engeyyum Eppodhum, and the latest, Nuvva Nena releasing this Friday.

He tells Radhika Rajamani that audiences can expect a new Sharwa in Nuvva Nena, where he has dabbled in comedy and even shaken a leg!

Why did you sign Nuvva Nena?

I did so because of the script. I haven't tried the comedy genre before. As an actor, I want to be part of all kinds of genres. People expect something like Prasthanam from me but I am giving them something different. Let them enjoy.

Naresh and you are getting back together four years after Gamyam. How does it feel?

It feels nice. We are friends. We are just hoping to repeat the magic.

It is said that Nuvva Nena is a remake of the Hindi film Deewana Mastana...

I haven't seen Deewana Mastana. I think it's kind of like Deewana Mastana. But the treatment is different. The film falls in the comedy genre.

From the first scene to the last scene, it's entertaining. The audience can sit, laugh, enjoy and go.

What character do you play in the film?

I play a character with two shades. I can't reveal more than this.

This is the first time you are paired with Shriya. What was it like acting with her?

She was fantastic. It was nice to work with her.

Does Vimala Raman do a cameo?

She does a special role which comes with the story.

The director Narayana is a debutant. What did you see in him as a director?

He has done a decent job. He filmed it as per the script.

What do you like about the film?

The best parts of the film are Brahmanandam and Kovai Sarala. One has to see and enjoy them. Brahmanandam is one more hero in the film.

The songs are another highlight. You have never seen me dancing. Here I am shaking a leg. You will see a new Sharwa in the film.

Overall, what was the Nuvva Nena experience like?

It was fantastic and cool. Since I didn't sign any other film, I worked only on this. It was comfortable. We shot the film in Hyderabad and Vizag.

How do you feel before the release?

Everyone has done their best. If I pass in the comedy genre, then it means I can do anything. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Are you open to experimentation?

As long as the script is good, I am open to all kinds of films. I want to entertain fans and viewers in whatever way I can.
I will be experimenting and doing different genres. I don't want to be branded as a certain kind of actor.

I want people to call me an actor and say his films are good.

What are your future projects?

Directors are working on scripts in Telugu. I don't start shooting till I get a bound script.

I will start a bi-lingual film to be directed by a big director. The details will be announced soon.

Are you getting offers from other film industries?

Yes, I am getting offers from other languages but I am waiting for the right project.

You must be very happy that your Tamil film Engeyyum Eppodhum was a hit.

I'm super happy. It's my first commercial hit. It collected so much thanks to fans and film lovers. I'm proud of doing Engeyyum Eppodhum.
