Ramya

Ramya is the first celebrity guest to participate in the popular game show Kannadada Kotyadhipathi -- the Kannada version of Kaun Banega Crorepati -- on the Suvarna channel from Monday through Thursday at 8 pm.

The special celebrity episode featuring Kannada's leading actress was aired on March 29.

In this interview with Srikanth Srinivasa, Ramya talks about her experience of Kannadada Kotiyadhipati  and says she would like to host such a show herself.

What did you think of your first appearance in a television game show?

It was fun. My participation in the show also gave me an opportunity to donate the money to some artistes in the industry.

'My general knowledge is average'

Why did you choose to make an appearance on the show in a sari?

I love wearing saris; it is my favourite attire and the most comfortable too.

How good is your general knowledge?

I should say it is average. I am learning every day. There is still so much to learn.

Do you feel that celebrity participation will enhance viewership of this programme?

The channel had a reason to call me. They wanted people to be entertained. Of course, television viewers can expect a lot of fun, laughter, and entertainment.

'I loved the audience the most'

Do you think you got the easy questions?

No one can decide the questions as it is computerised. I don't know if the computer knew that I was being questioned! Not even Puneeth (the host) knew the questions or the answers. Some were easy to answer, others were tough. But whatever I didn't know, I learnt through this show. This programme is good to watch and to learn as well.

What do you feel about Puneeth Rajkumar's presentation?

Puneeth was fun to be with on the show. He was cracking jokes all the while and we even did a little jig together.

He couldn't make it easy for me because he doesn't have a hand in selecting the questions and neither does he know the answers!

Audience participation is what I loved the most. They helped me with a question. I loved them!

'The money I won still hasn't come'

Would you like to host a game show or a reality show on television?

I would love to host a game show on TV. I love interacting with people, I'm a people's person and so I believe that I would thoroughly enjoy hosting it.

What were the takeaways from your participation in the programme? How are you going to use the prize money that you won from the show?

By the way, the prize money that I won still hasn't come. I am told it takes a few months.

I will be donating the money to veteran director Geethapriya and late director Puttanna Kanagal's family. A part of the money will also go to the family of Sridhar Anna, who was the sound recordist of my first film. He is no more but his son is alive.

I want to help these people because I came to know about Geethapriya's illness through one of my fans on Twitter. My mother saw a programme on television about Puttanna Kanagal's family.

When the going is good, everybody is there with you. But when the time is bad, people forget you. I just wanted to help these people and show them that there are a few you can still count on.
