They have been a hit pair all along and in debutant director Mamas' Malayalam film Pappi Appacha, the two are coming together yet again.

We are talking about Dileep and Kavya Madhavan. After her failed marriage, Kavya is back and acting with Dileep. She is also doing the multi-starrer Christian Brothers with Mohanlal, Suresh Gopi, Sarath Kumar and Dileep in the lead.

Pappi Appacha will hit the screens on April 14.

The title Pappi Appacha has been taken from a popular hit number of the past, which was sung by comedian Adoor Bhasi.

Dileep plays Pappi, an uneducated and brash son of a rich man, Nirappel Mathai, played by Innocent.

"From humble beginnings, the father and son become rich and now control a wide range of businesses ranging from a bar, match factory, theatre, a whole sale market and of course, a school. They are idiotic to some extent but the natives of the village don't object to their style much, as the two are harmless.

"Kavya plays Annie, a teacher who comes to join the school owned by Nirappel household. She becomes quite a problem for them when she starts voicing her protests against some of their deeds," says the director.

Dileep says that "the character, Pappi, has everything that the viewer expects from me. There is comedy, romance and some heroism."

He has adopted an altogether different look with a long, white jooba, mundu, sideburns, thick dark shades and a heavy golden chain on his wrist.

"The father and son duo thinks that the world is under their feet, as they have plenty of money. Though the two were showy like the newly rich, they were basically good at heart," says the hero.

According to Kavya, "my character Annie stands for justice, just like her dad who died a few years ago. He was also a teacher in the same school. She never dares to raise her voice even if the wrongdoing was done by Pappi, who owned the school."

Ashokan plays another rich man in the village, called Shashankan. According to the director, Shashankan claims to be a villain himself but actually is the comical type. Mimicry artiste Dharmajan Bolghatty, a popular face in the various comedy shows in TV, makes his debut playing Dileep's sidekick.

Pappi Appacha is produced by Dileep's brother Anoop, under the banner of Priyanjali. Sanjeev Sankar cranks the camera and the music director is Vidyasagar.
