The Malayalam multi-starrer Christian Brothers will have a worldwide release this Friday, at around 300 centres.

According to Subair of Varnachithra Big Screen, who is producing the film along with A V Anoop's AVA Productions, "The film will be released in USA, UK, Ireland, Australia, Gulf countries, Singapore and so on."

An ensemble cast of Mohanlal, Dileep, Suresh Gopi, Sarath Kumar, Kavya Madhavan, Lakshmi Rai, Kaniha and Lakshmi Gopalaswamy has been lined up. It has been directed by Joshiy.

Siby K Thomas and Udayakrishna, who have written screenplays for successful multi-starrers like Twenty 20 and Pokkiri Raja, have scripted the film. They claim that the film is a commercial entertainer.

The shooting took quite long, mainly due to date clashes of the lead actors.

Siby and Udayakrishna add that the film had been ready for a while but was delayed as they wanted to release it just before the summer vacation.

With another multi-starrer China Town -- directed by Rafi-Mecartin and starring Mohanlal, Jayaram and Dileep -- coming up for release soon, the box office verdict of Christian Brothers is eagerly awaited.

Though the producers are not willing to comment on the film's cost, industry buzz pegs it at Rs 15 crores. This could make it one of the costliest films ever made in Malayalam cinema.

The movie goes through a lot of twists and turns.

Captain Varghese (Sai Kumar) is the head of the wealthy Palamattam family. His children are Christy (Mohanlal), Joji (Dileep), Jessy (Lakshmi Gopalaswamy) and Stella (Kaniha). As years go by, Christy starts having some dubious connections in Mumbai, which becomes a cause of concern for all. In reality, Christie is a high-profile police informer in Mumbai.

Joji had been sent to the seminary to become a priest but he falls in love with a girl and opts out of it. This comes as a shock to his father.

Both Siby and Udayakrishna refrain from divulging any more of the story.

Deepak Dev has given the music for the film. The songs have already become popular.

With almost thrice the number of release centres, the producers expect a good opening. The industry is also watching keenly to see if the gamble pays off.

The film could be an important one for most of the actors involved. Mohanlal has been going through a rough patch recently, especially after the debacle of Kandahar.

Suresh Gopi has fallen out of grace after several flops and Sarath Kumar failed to cash in on the appreciation that he received for Pazhassi Raja.

Let's wait and see if Christian Brothers will script the fortunes of some of the mighty names in Malayalam industry.
