A scene from Ala Modalaindi

Get your low down on what's happening in the world of Telugu cinema, right here!

Ala Modalaindi, released on January 21 after a spate of Sankranti releases, is a hit. This love story, the debut film of director Nandini Reddy starring Nani and Nithya Menen besides Ashish Vidhyarthi and Rohini, has gone down well with the audience.

Now the news is that the rights of this film have been sold to a Tamil producer and shortly one may see it in Tamil.

Elated over the success of the film Nandini Reddy says: "The best part of this success is that this film made so many people happy. The love they felt for the film came from the heart, that's like winning an Oscar for me. Regarding the remake I am pretty sure it would work in other languages as well."

Shruti Haasan

Shruti Haasan made her Telugu debut with the fantasy flick Anaganaga O Dheerudu (Once upon a Warrior) which released during Sankranti. Though the film has not done well, the beautiful daughter of Kamal Haasan and Sarika is getting offers from the Telugu industry too.

She was considered for a NTR Jr's film but the buzz now is that she is cast opposite the Prince of Telugu Cinema, Mahesh Babu in Puri Jagannath's film The Businessman.

Shruti is currently shooting 7am Arivu (directed by A R Murugadoss) opposite Tamil superstar Suriya.
