Cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu, who left the reality show Bigg Boss 6 to fulfil his commitments as a BJP campaigner for the forthcoming assembly elections in Gujarat, said he wasn't forced by the party to leave the show.

"It was sudden and surprising. I did not plan to leave the house midway. It was the situation that demanded me to be out of the house. "My party needs me; I will be there and do what I have to. Party is supreme and I have orders from the party to join them," he said

"It was my wife who appealed to the channel to let me quit the show as Nitin Gadkari (BJP president) called her up saying I would be needed to campaign for the BJP in the upcoming Gujarat elections," he added.

'It is not that I had not informed my party people of being in the show'

Before he left, Bigg Boss had asked Sidhu to speak to the housemates and get their opinion on his decision. He spoke to them and got them to agree to his quitting the show so that he could don his other hat as politician.

Sidhu's sudden exit from the show is being questioned since it was well known that the Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat elections were round the corner.

"It is not that I had not informed my party people of being in the show. They knew about it. But when I went on the show the date was not fixed for campaigning. I got to know through my wife that the campaign dates have been brought forward," Sidhu claimed.

His says his aim was to clean up the image of the show by spreading his thoughts and positivity around.

He was respected by all the housemates who looked to him for solutions and guidance. He was very much the father figure in the house.

He was close to Niketan and was always engaged in worldly talks with Assem, Sampat and Sapna.

"I came to Bigg Boss with the intention of changing the face of the game. I am certain that I was able to do this to an extent.

"I accepted even the smallest work like cleaning the washroom. I can't help it if they didn't show that on screen. I was not like a Member of Parliament when I went into the house... I was like a normal competitor. But yes, I didn't back-bite people and did things my own way."

'My daughter said 'my daddy's the strongest'

Sidhu reveals that he was in the show because of his daughter.

"I wanted to prove to my daughter that a lotus blooms wherever it is. I knew that I was on the path of truth and this was the right way.

"I called my daughter first after leaving the house. She said 'my daddy's the strongest' and 'you are my role model'," says the proud papa.

'In the house I liked Delnaaz'

His cricketing and commentary stories were a hit amongst the housemates. Although he was never the captain of the house, the rest of the housemates looked up to him for answers, even the captains. In case of any fights, Sidhu was the first person to intervene and resolve the fights.

"In the house I liked Delnaaz; I think she has this thing of winning the show. Aseem is a pure guy. I really like him a lot. I also like Niketan and Aashka."

He felt no animosity for any of the contestants, he said.
