Salman Khan is known to wear his heart on his sleeves. The actor can go to any length to promote his friends.

At the launch of the first look of his new film Bodyguard at Mumbai's PVR Juhu, Salman took a backseat and let his real life bodyguard of 15 years Shera take centre stage.

It was an emotional moment for Shera, who praised Salman for his kind gesture.

"This is a very big honour that bhai (Salman) has given me by giving me an opportunity to release his film's promo. I have been with bhai for 15 years now. I used to tell him that I can do anything for him -- even take a bullet. But the fact is that bhai can do anything for his loved ones. He is the real-life bodyguard," Shera said.

The film is an out-and-out Salman vehicle. In fact, the stunts and action sequences look straight out of Salman's earlier hit Wanted.

Salman claimed that he trusts Shera with his money, family and even women! He joked that Shera had always taken care of the security of the women Salman has dated. "I could trust him with their security. I know he will always keep them safe," Salman said.

Salman narrated how he met Shera for the first time at a concert, when he was bodyguard for pop star Whigfield.

"My sister wanted to meet the pop star and when I saw Shera at the door. I wasn't sure if I could take her to meet the star but he was very generous and allowed us to meet her," he said.

Kareena Kapoor plays the leading lady in Bodyguard, and was all praise for Shera as well. "Shera has known me since I was 10 years old. And today, he is launching the promo of my film," she beamed.

So will we see Salman do only action movies now? "I am one of the very few actors who can do just about anything," the superstar said, grinning.

Salman and Katrina Kaif may have called off their romance but the actress will be a part of Bodyguard, in an item number. Apparently, the song will be played during the opening credits of the film and will be on the lines of James Bond's opening credits.

It has been composed by Himesh Reshammiya and choreographed by Ganesh Acharya.

Salman had once mentored Himesh, who made music for films like Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya, Hello Brother and Tere Naam. Later, they fell out.

But they have patched up now. "When did I break-up with Himesh Reshammiya? It was just that he was busy with his movies. Now he is not busy with that any more," Salman said.

Salman refused to comment on Shah Rukh Khan's recent performance at IIFA, where he poked fun at Dabangg.

"Kareena is very close to Shah Rukh Khan; she will answer that," Salman said. Kareena, however, passed the question.

Bodyguard is romantic action film, directed by noted south director Siddique. The film is, in fact, a remake of Siddique's 2010 Malayalam blockbuster of the same name.

The film is being produced by Salman's brother-in-law Atul Agnihotri. It will release on August 13.
