Sakshi Tanwar

In the newest episode of Ek Thhi Naayka on the television channel Life OK, Sakshi Tanwar plays the role of Pooja, the strong and efficient production manager of a film crew who, one day, is possessed by three spirits.

Sakshi, who is also in the hit TV show Bade Achhe Lagte Hai, talks to Rajul Hegde about the supernatural, her acting career, and much more.

Ek Thhi Naayka is a supernatural show. Do you believe in the supernatural?

I have only heard stories as a child and it is hard to say whether these things are true or not.

I have not come across any such thing in reality. I haven't experienced anything spooky. However, once at 3 am, I saw a shadow outside my window but when I looked outside there was nobody around. That was kind of eerie.

'I am reaping the benefits of my hard work'

Your ongoing show Bade Achhe Lagte Hain is doing well. Are you happy with the way your career is progressing?

I had no plans of reaching where I am today. I would say that I have been extremely blessed by God as far as my acting profession is concerned.

Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki, which was on air for eight years, gave me a lot of respect, love and adulation. The cast and crew were like one close-knit family.

In fact, the kind of success I got with Kahaani was enough to last me a lifetime. It was on top of the charts for eight years.

It so happened that one day when I was at home enjoying my break, I got a call for Bade Achhe Lagte Hain. Whatever happens with Bade Ache is like a bonus period in my life.

I am reaping the benefits of my hard work, dedication and sincerity. I am in a comfortable position where people connect to me and trust me. I don't think I have done enough to earn this.

You are doing a film with Sunny Doel, Mohalla Assi. Do you think the film offers came in late?

This is not the first time that I will be seen in a film. I have done cameo appearances in films earlier (she did C Kkompany, and Pritish Nandy's Saluun etc).

Mr Deol is playing a Sanskrit teacher and I am playing his wife. It is a beautiful subject. The film is based in 1980s Benaras. I am very proud of it.

My character has many shades. I believe a lot of women will relate to her. It was an exciting role for me.

'Amrita is a very smart kid who loves to improvise while acting'

Sakshi Tanwar, Ram Kapoor, Amrita Mukherjee in Bade Achhe Lagte Hai

You are an established television actor. Are you looking at anything special in films?

I am happy and content with the response of my current show Bade Ache. I am not looking for anything anywhere.

Can you talk about Amrita Mukherjee (Pihu) with whom you share a very good equation in Bade Achhe Lagte Hain?

When Amrita is around, she doesn't let me think even for a minute that I am not her mother. She hugs me, kisses me and sits on my lap.

At times, she treats me like someone of her age while sometimes she turns someone of my age. Occasionally, she argues with me like an adult while in our spare time, she makes me colour her drawing books.

She is a very intelligent and sensitive kid. She loves to hear stories. We have chosen a fictitious birdie. She actually thinks that there is a birdie with which I can communicate to tell her stories. When a shot is on, she will often ask me to summon that birdie.

We share a wonderful relationship. At times I scold her too, but that is a privilege that her mom has given me as she knows that I am very fond of her.

I explain all the scenes to Amrita. She is a very smart kid who loves to improvise while acting. Most of our scenes together are beyond the script as they are based on our natural interactions which come out of the close rapport we share.

Once when I was crying, she really got moved and started wiping my tears. This unplanned scene came out so naturally.

Do you have any marriage plans?

I believe that God has a plan for us. Once He executes His plan then I will be able to answer this query of yours.

Right now, I am in a mode of surrender with Him and will accept whatever He has for me in future with my head bowed.
