The 61-year-old actor was admitted into Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore hospital on May 28.
Earlier, he was being treated at the Sri Ramchandra Medical Centre in Chennai.

After he was discharged from Mount Elizabeth, Rajnikanth's son-in-law and National Award winning actor Dhanush tweeted. 'Superstar discharged from hospital. He has recovered completely and taking rest.'

Amitabh Bacchan, another superstar who had faced some serious health issues, is said to have suggested the hospital to Rajnikanth.
In one of his interviews, he said, 'I've been talking to Rajini and his wife Latha on his condition and on his welfare regularly. Latha wanted to take him out and asked me to recommend a destination. Of the many options that came up, I suggested Singapore.'

How it all started:
Rajnikanth first fell ill on the first day of the shoot for his latest film, Rana. Bollywood hottie Deepika Padukone plays his love interest.
He was admitted to St Isabel Hospital, Chennai, on April 29 after a bout of vomiting. He was discharged the same evening.

On May 5, he suffered from fever and breathing problems. This time, he was admitted into the ICU at St Isabel hospital. He was diganosed as suffering from allergic bronchitis and fever.

On May 13, Rajnikanth was shifted to the Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre. He was suffering from fever and fluid retention, following acute gastro-intestinal and respiratory problems.

He was discharged from the Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre on May 28 and flown to Singapore, where he was admitted into Mount Elizabeth Hospital.
