Priyamani turns item girl for Chennai Express

Priyamani

Looks like actress Priyamani is going great guns. After delivering a good performance by playing the role of conjoined twins in her Kannada film Charulatha, the actress is now gearing up for another female-centric film in Telugu.

But there is more to her flourishing career. She has even bagged an item number opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Rohit Shetty's Hindi film Chennai Express.

Given that the film has a South Indian connect, the team was keen on casting a South Indian actress in the item song. The likes of Nayanathara were also considered, but she was not too keen.

This will be Priyamani's second Hindi film after Raavan (2010) .

A scene from Charminar

Many Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam films are being remade in Kannada. Charminar, R Chandru's ambitious and just released film, reverses this trend.

The film which released this week will be made in Telugu and Tamil. While the Telugu version is likely to see Naga Chaitanya in the lead role, Karthi may be playing the lead in the Tamil version. The Kannada film stars Prem and Meghana in the lead.

Myna, a yet-to-be-released Kannada film with Nithya Menen and Chetan in the lead is also expected to generate a similar interest in other industries.

The buzz is that a romantic film that released last year and went on to become a hit may also be remade in Telugu soon if things fall into place.

Guruprasad

Looks like director Guruprasad's Director's Special is finally going to see the light of day. Work on the film started two years ago, and true to his style, the director took time making it.

The film has finally cleared the censor board with a U/A certificate, so it looks like it will soon come to a theatre near you.

Director's Special has been frequently in the news. First it was the change in the cast, then the content that created a buzz, and then the delay in completing it. But looks like now the team is finally all geared up to come out with the product.

Guru has already started publicising the film through social networking sites.
