Logically, real life couples should work really well on screen.

Hindi cinema has seen some fine examples of real life chemistry beautifully manifesting on the silver screen. Raj Kapoor and Nargis, Dilip Kumar and Madhubala created magic in their movies together when they were seeing each other in real life.

It just doesn't seem to be the case anymore. Take, for instance, Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor, the hottest Bollywood couple, failed to recreate their real life chemistry in their film, Agent Vinod. Touted as one of the most anticipated movies of the year, Agent Vinod just did not work any wonders when it finally released.

Here's looking at other real couples, who just didn't work in reel life.

Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D'Souza

Newly-wed actors Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D'Souza's new film couldn't have been timed better.

Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya was released right after the couple tied the knot in February this year.

Despite all the awww-inducing interviews and extensive media coverage of the various high-profile ceremonies that preceded the wedding, the film sank.

Amy Jackson and Prateik

Unlike other newbies who like to keep a low profile as far as their love lives are concerned, debutante Amy Jackson and Prateik made no bones about the fact that they were dating when their film Ekk Deewana Tha released.

Despite various public appearances and interviews, the film failed to work at the BO.

Ajay Devgn and Kajol

Ajay Devgn's directorial debut U Me Aur Hum brought him and wife Kajol on screen after a long time.

A unique love story, the film dealt with Alzheimer's disease and how love conquers all.

Only, the film couldn't charm the audience.

Priyanka Chopra and Harman Baweja

Harman Baweja, who was probably doomed the moment people realised he looked eerily similar to Hrithik Roshan, debuted opposite his then girlfriend Priyanka Chopra with Love Story 2050.

The film did abysmal business but the young couple didn't lose heart.

They were cast together again by Ashutosh Gowariker in What's Your Raashee. Many believe that the second film's failure proved to be a deal breaker for Ms Chopra.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan

JP Dutta's 2006 take on Muzaffar Ali's classic film about a famous Lucknow courtesan, Umrao Jaan starred Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya in lead roles.

The film met with a tepid response.

Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor

Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor's long overdue film Milenge Milenge was made when the two were dating but released much later.

Inspired by Hollywood romantic comedy Serendipity starring Kate Beckinsale and John Cusack, the film failed to replicate the magic.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Viveik Oberoi

He was excessively vocal about their relationship while she refrained from commenting at all.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and her then boyfriend Viveik Oberoi's on screen love story Kyun Ho Gaya Na fizzled out, just like their real life romance would later.

Karisma Kapoor and Abhishek Bachchan

This one was poised to be the mother of all Bollywood weddings.

While Karisma Kapoor exchanged engagement rings with then beau Abhishek Bachchan, their first and the only film together -- Haan Maine Bhi Pyaar Kiya -- sank without a trace.

Even though he was engaged to his childhood sweetheart Sussanne Roshan at the time, that didn't stop Hrithik Roshan from allegedly romping around with his leading lady Kareena Kapoor.

Sadly, all that young passion didn't reflect very well on screen and their film Yaadein turned out to be nothing more than a damp squib.
