PIX: The Sexiest Men in the World

Ever since they introduced it in 1985, People magazine has named over 21 Sexiest Men.

After the first batch of Bradley Cooper's predecessors, we carry on from where we left off -- the year of 1998. Take a look.

Harrison Ford (1998)

The rugged professor from Indiana Jones had that sexy quality about him. Even when he got a little old and played the US president in Air Force One, his appeal was intact and so was our affection for the actor.

He was named People's Sexiest Man Alive in 1998, a year before Richard Gere claimed the title.

Denzel Washington (1996)

Denzel Washington has received two Academy Awards, two Golden Globe awards, and a Tony Award. He is notable for winning the Best Supporting Actor award for Glory in 1989; and the Academy Award for Best Actor in 2001 for his role in the film Training Day.

Washington was the first African American to appear on People's sexy list.

In 1997, the title went to George Clooney, who was named the Sexiest Man Alive again in  2006.

Nick Nolte (1992)

In a career spanning five decades, Nick Nolte was at his prime in the 1990s, just the right time to vote him the Sexiest Man Alive.

The actor was given the title at the ripe age of 51 and was one of the most popular celebs of the decade. He was seen in Ben Stiller's comedy film Tropic Thunder.

People took a one year haitus in 1994 and in 1995, Brad Pitt was awarded the title, making him the second person after Clooney to win it twice (He was named again in 2000).

In 1993, the magazine awarded the sexiest couple title which went to then couple Richard Gere and model Claudia Schiffer.

Patrick Swayze (1991)

Actor Patrick Swayze was the Sexiest Man Alive for the year 1991, a year after Ghost -- his iconic film costarring Demi Moore was released.

With hit films like Dirty Dancing and Saturday Night Live to his credit, Swayze was a favourite with his gorgeous looks and light eyes. Perfect eye candy.

The actor died at the age of 57 after battling pancreatic cancer.

Tom Cruise (1990)

With the fourth installment of Mission Impossible about to release, the buzz around the actor has just got bigger.

Late US president John F Kennedy's son John F Kennedy Jr is described as a socialite, publisher and a pilot.

He was the only non-actor to make it to the list and the youngest one at that. He died in a plane crash along with wife Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy and sister-in-law Lauren in 1999.

The actor has been married to three soap opera hotties -- Laura Johnson, Nicolette Sheridan and Lisa Rinna.
