A grand wedding has been planned for actress Amala Paul and noted film director, A L Vijay.

Actress Amala Paul got engaged to filmmaker A L Vijay in a private ceremony at St Jude’s Church, Choondi, in Kochi on June 7.

The engagement was followed by a grand, star-studded sangeet ceremony at the CIAL Convention Centre, Nedumbassery.

Amala wore a white gown created by designer Anita Dongre. A diamond neckpiece completed the look.

The sangeet had a Rajasthan theme. Amala was dressed in a traditional pink lehenga with golden embellishments, and uncut diamond accessories.

Amala and Vijau have been romantically linked with each other since their 2011 film Deiva Thirumagal but they made it official in April this year.

Their wedding plans had been put on hold earlier, until the release of Vijay's latest venture Saivam, a family drama starring Baby Sara and Nasser.

The film was to release on May 1 but since it got delayed, the couple decided to go ahead with their wedding plans.

The couple will tie the knot at a lavish ceremony on June 12 at the Mayor Ramanathan Chettiar Hall at MRC Nagar, Chennai, a popular venue for celebrity weddings.

The ceremony will be in traditional Chettiyar style, and many film personalities are expected to attend.

Amala will wear a traditional Kancheevaram sari, accessorised by jewels from the Amrapali collection. She has roped in Sabyasachi Mukherjee to design her outfit for the reception.

The happy couple is also taking this opportunity to do their bit for society.

Guests have been requested not to bring gifts but donate to a charity instead. Sources state that the couple has tied up with Ability Foundation and all contributions from the guests will be donated to this NGO.

With just a few more days to go before the wedding, the couple is busy wrapping up their previous commitments.

While Amala will be seen with Dhanush in Velaiyilla Pattadhari and Malayalam film Mili, Vijay is awaiting the release of his latest directorial Saivam.
