One of the biggest concerns during Holi is protecting our skin and hair from damaging colours.

Bollywood actresses share some great hair care tips. Read on:

Deepika Padukone

The actress fondly remembers playing Holi with friends in her building as a kid, and says her favourite Holi song is Balam pichkari from her newest film Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani.

Her beauty ritual before playing Holi

Protecting my hair from the chemicals of colours and harsh water is a prerequisite during Holi.

I like to pamper and protect my hair with coconut based hair oil. I prefer a tied hair style like a side braid when I am playing Holi. Also, I try my best to use organic colours as they are environment-friendly and do not damage my hair or skin.

My first Holi was two years ago. I was curious about it and a few of my friends invited me to a Holi party. It definitely lived up to expectations.

It's the one festival that isn't about appearances, you don't have to dress up or look pretty. It's about getting messy, and having a good time with your friends.

Holi hair care regime

My non-negotiable ritual before I go to play Holi is gently massaging the roots and strands of my hair in circular motion with a coconut-based hair oil. It provides the necessary nourishment and protects my hair from all the harmful synthetic chemicals that the colours bring with them.

Style your tresses with some quick hair dos this Holi. If you love your fringes, leave them on the side by tying the rest of your hair in a sleek pony tail. Accessorise your hairstyles with funky hair bands or pin top clips.

As a kid, I used to play Holi with my brother two days in advance.

The most mischievous thing that I have done was once when my brother and I had put colour in the water tank of the house. My friends and cousins were at my place and we had a blast.

Holi Hair Care regime

Before stepping out to play Holi, a must-do ritual for me is massaging my hair with a coconut-based hair oil. It gets absorbed in the hair strands as well as the roots and acts as a shield, protecting my hair from the harsh colours.

Just because it's Holi, it does not mean I don't style my hair. The side braid which is in these days, is my go-to hairstyle.
