Like many of his contemporaries, Hrithik Roshan will soon descend on television with Just Dance, a dance-based reality show that's slated to go on air this summer on Star Plus. Touted as a global platform for dance enthusiasts, the show is currently scouring the Indian metros for talent.

The Mumbai auditions took place recently at Thakkur College in Kandivali, a western suburb in the city. Rajul Hegde spoke to some of the aspirants, who were present at the venue to try their luck.

Amrita Desphande 25, Hyderabad

I am a mechanical engineer and have quit my job to come to Mumbai. My first passion is to dance, followed by other things, like becoming an actress, a model and being pampered.

I am a trained Kathak dancer and have being dancing since the age of three. I am also learning salsa. I had auditioned for Dance India Dance Season 2 but didn't reach the final round. My mom and brother are very excited about the auditions.

Sridevi is my dancing idol ever since I was a kid.

I just completed my 12 standard and have come to Mumbai to work. I come here every year during my vacations to find work. I work to support my family and support my studies.

I came to Mumbai four-five days ago and learnt about the show through advertisements which was put up in the Juhu hotel where I was working. It was the last day for the registration so I quickly finished my work and went for the registration. Luckily, I got selected for the auditions.

I have always recorded Dance India Dance performances on my mobile and practiced whenever I am free. Dharmesh (Dance India Dance Season 2 contestant) is my idol. Hrithik Roshan too (smiles). I have learnt dance by watching TV and films.

I want to become a choreographer.

Tejas

I am studying in the 11th standard at Matru Chaya College, Dahisar. I am not a trained dancer but have learnt dance by watching TV, films and the people around me.

I have been dancing for 10 years now. I do a little bit of contemporary dance but locking and popping is my forte. I have a dance group called Body hoppers, we do stage shows during the festivals. I want to dance like Hrithik and Remo Sir.

I have been learning dance since the last six years. My first show on television was Boogie Woogie in 2006. We lost in the finals. I left the group and have started a dance academy with my cousin in Panvel. I have 85 students.

I am studying for my Bachelors in Commerce degree and also teaching dance in my college.

Remo D'souza has been my idol from the time I watched his Lal Paharer Kotha, a Bengali film based on Chhau, a tribal dance.

My father runs a small canteen and I live in a joint family with my parents, brother, mama (mother's brother) and mami.

My dream is to become an actor.
