Kiran Rao with Aamir Khan

At the recently concluded Confederation of Indian Industry event, filmmaker and new mum Kiran Rao shared her early experiences as one of the few women assistant directors in Bollywood.

She also spoke to Nithya Ramani about hubby Aamir Khan's television debut and her future plans.

How did you like Aamir Khan's new show, Satyameva Jayate?

If you are talking about the song, I absolutely loved it.

They travelled around the country to shoot this and I was very sad that I couldn't be a part of it. Aamir has worked really hard for it. I think the promos too have reached out to the people.

This show had made my jeena haram in many levels because Aamir has worked on this show night and day and in my house. My house was filled with people for days and nights together.

I was waiting for the show to go on air so that my life will go back to normal.

The film industry is completing 100 years. Your thoughts?

I am very proud. It is an achievement to have entertained diverse people like Indians for 100 years. So I am proud to be a part of this industry.

What is next on the direction front?

I am hoping to write something provided I have the headspace. I still am a full time mother and hopefully I'll get the time to write something new.

I have a script in mind but I am finding it very hard to make the time in my life to concentrate on it.
