The music industry witnessed an accident in 2007. This accident turned out to be right in every way.

Teen sensation Justin Bieber was spotted in one of the many videos that his mother had uploaded on YouTube.

Since then, there has been no looking back for this boy-next-door, who has now transformed into a star kid.

With numerous albums under his belt, a wide range of awards to his credit and the recent wax double at Madame Tussauds, Justin Bieber is on a roll.

The only child of his single mother, Bieber had a humble childhood. Music always featured as one of his many interests but neither he nor his mother intended for him to be the sensation that he is today.

An uber talented Bieber taught himself to play a few musical instruments. At the age of 12, he went on to win a small-time singing competition. Life changed for Justin much later, when his present manager Scooter Braun spotted him in one of his videos.

After a few recording sessions, Justin was finally a part of the Raymond Braun Media Group. This was Bieber's big break, and his life took a sharp turn.

Bieber began his official singing career with the single One Time. Brimming with teenage excitement, the song had mischievous undertones. The lyrics aptly showcased the average teenager's anxiety, complimented beautifully by the texture of the artist's voice.

The debut single, released in 2009, featured across many music charts, making Bieber a talent to reckon with in the music industry. It also sent him soaring on his popularity charts.

His single Baby continued his run up the charts.

He was also nominated for People's Choice Awards (2011) in the categories Favourite Breakout Artist and Favourite Music Video.

Bieber won the International Breakthrough Artist title at the Brit Awards this year, an annual pop music award by the British Phonographic Industry.

Apart from these, Bieber has quite a few nominations and victories under his belt like MTV awards, BET (Black Entertainment Television) awards, TRL (Total Request Live) awards.

Success is not everyone's cuppa and handling it takes a great deal of maturity. The fame and responsibilities that come along can weigh one down too.

So one wonders if 17-year-old Bieber is mentally and emotionally ready for this sudden fame or is he a bonsai plant that is being forced to grow up too soon.

There are quite a few controversies that surround Bieber: His link up between Bieber and singer-actress Selena Gomez and his take on topics like homosexuality and abortion during his interview with the Rolling Stone magazine.
