It was 30 years ago when Michael Jackson's iconic Thriller video was released.

What followed was a worldwide frenzy that has travelled through generations and decades.

The first music video ever made, Thriller released on December 2, 1982, is often hailed as the most influential pop music video of all time and holds a significant place in popular culture.

Here then, is a look at how MJ fans worldwide have strived to keep the late legend's legacy alive:

In 2007, more than 1500 inmates of the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center performed on the song as part of their morning exercise routine in Cebu City.

Clips of the prisoners grooving in harmony to Thriller created a stir on the internet and has clocked over 51 million views since it was posted on Youtube.
