Salma Hayek has confessed that she entered the United States as an illegal immigrant.

The Mexican actress talks about her humble beginnings, her former undocumented immigrant status and her charity projects in an interview with V magazine Spain, where she seductively poses for the cover titled 'A Woman's Weapons'.

'I was an illegal immigrant in the United States,' Fox News quoted Hayek as saying in the interview.

'It was for a small period of time, but I still did it,' she added.

 In the interview, Hayek also discussed her involvement with women's issues, including the promotion of awareness programs about violence against women and the rising discrimination against undocumented workers.

'I had to endure the worst time of all in terms of racial discrimination in Hollywood when I first started out,' she said.

'It was inconceivable to American directors and producers that a Mexican woman could have a lead role,' she added.

As one of the most prominent Latina figures in Hollywood today, Hayek is an acclaimed actress, director and producer and one of a few Latinas to be nominated in the 'Best Actress' category of the Academy Awards.

The 29-year-old singer treated the car-mad 99 Problems rapper to a Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport, costing 1.3 million pounds.

She had to wait a year after ordering the supercar, which can do 255mph and goes from 0-60 in 2.5 seconds.

But she managed to keep it a secret -- and Jay-Z was thrilled with the surprise, which adds to his already impressive fleet.

'Jay-Z has one of the most enviable collections of bling motors in the world -- but even for him the Bugatti is special,' the Sun quoted a source as saying.

'Obviously the money isn't a factor for Beyonce, but Jay will be touched that out of everything she could have bought him, she chose something he'll treasure for years. He's in for the ride of his life,' the source said.

Jay-Z already owns a Maybach 62S, Ferrari F430 Spider and a Pagani Zonda Roadster, and is an ambassador for American motor giant GMC.

 Last year he and Beyonce became the highest-earning couple in showbiz, pocketing 68million pounds between them from June 2008 to June 2009.
