Director Darren Aronofsky has revealed the official title for Hugh Jackman's solo spin-off of the X-Men franchise.

Aronofsky said the title of the film would be The Wolverine, reports the Daily Telegraph.

Jackman had recently said the film would be 'very different' from the first film X-Men Origins, and Aronofsky seems to validate that point.

He emphasised that The Wolverine was not a sequel in the conventional sense, referring to the movie as a one-off.

Aronofsky's frequent collaborator Matthew Libatique will shoot the film.

Daniel Radcliffe and Robert Pattinson

Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe has dismissed rumours about any tiff with Twilight star Robert Pattinson.

As the leading men of two of America's most popular fantasy fiction series, the actors share a lot in common.

But according to Radcliffe, any feud pales in contrast to the perks of the pair's similarities.

'Someone was talking about this supposed rivalry between Rob Pattison and [me],' the New York Daily News quoted Radcliffe as telling Access Hollywood.

'What's awesome about this is, between the pair of us, we are striking a blow for the paler man ... We are white as sheets, so it's a comfort,' he added.

Film director/producer Francis Ford Coppola has been awarded a lifetime achievement Oscar, during a Los Angeles ceremony.

Many A-list stars were present to see Coppola, 71, get the Irving Thalberg Memorial Award, which was presented to him by producer George Lucas.

'I have a great love of the original Hollywood tradition and admiration for the tradition of Irving Thalberg,' the BBC quoted Coppola as saying as he accepted the prize.

Actor Robert DeNiro paid tribute to Coppola, calling him "an inspiration and one of my biggest influences", and Lucas said Coppola is "my big brother and my mentor".

'He taught me how to write. He taught me how to direct. He actually personified a whole era of the American film industry. He was our leader. He was our inspiration,' Lucas stated.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science said Coppola's Irving Thalberg Memorial Award was given to "a creative producer whose body of work reflects a consistently high quality of motion picture production".
