Matt Damon feels sorry for his high-profile pals like Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie because they are 'prisoners' of fame.
The movie star feels blessed that he hasn't become a tabloid target, despite his success, because he's allowed to go out for a walk without it becoming 'an international incident'.
In an interview with German TV network Tele 5, Damon says, 'I have friends who are like prisoners. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, for instance. They can't just go someplace. I'm really lucky, because I have the best of both worlds. I do the work that I love and need, but don't need paramilitary troops to protect me when I walk out my front door.'
He credits Luciana, his wife of eight years, for keeping him out of the public eye: 'Ever since I found my wife and we had children, my whole life revolves around that. It gave my life a dramatic change in direction.'
