The world woke up to the shocking news of famously confirmed bachelor George Clooney's engagement to a stunning 36-year-old attorney.

While the world wide web is abuzz with reactions, curiosity about Clooney's mystery woman and whether this relationship is for keeps, little is known about the future Mrs George Clooney to be -- Amal Alamuddin.

Here then, are five things about the stunner you probably didn't know.

The early years

While the early details of this romance are still unknown, the couple reportedly started dating in October last year -- Clooney broke up with former girlfriend Stacey Kiebler in July, 2013.

Clooney apparently asked Amal Alamuddin out twice and she turned down the offer citing work commitments.

She finally relented the third time and the couple has been inseparable since.

She also went as his date for a White House screening of his new film Monuments Men in February this year.

And finally, as if that mind-bending list of accomplishments wasn't enough, she was also chosen the hottest lawyer in London by legal blog Your Barrister Boyfriend in 2011.

The tumblr proceeds to describe her thus, 'Amo, Amas, Amal. These are three short words that come to mind when thinking about this dazzling beauty.

'Amal Alamuddin may make some feel inadequate because she has achieved the seemingly unattainable ideal of contemporary femininity: She is both breathtakingly beautiful and formidably successful.'
