Gautham Karthik, the 23-year-old son of actor Karthik, made his debut in Mani Ratnam's Kadal.
Though the film failed miserably at the box office, it has had no effect on the actor. After all, how many young actors get to make their debut in a Mani Ratnam film? He was also appreciated for his natural style.

His next film is Sippai directed by Saravanan who had earlier directed Silambattam.
Acting opposite him is one of the most sought after young heroines in Tamil cinema, 17-year-old Lakshmi Menon who made her debut in Prabhu Solomon's Kumki opposite Venkat Prabhu.
Her Sundarapandian with Sasikumar also was a huge hit.
Telugu producer GVG Raju produces the film, and the music is by Yuvan Shankar Raja.
